Skin Cancer Check

Skin Cancer Checks

Skin cancer checks are examinations used to identify unusual moles or changes in the skin. These checks help healthcare professionals monitor skin health and assess whether further evaluation may be needed.

Skin Cancer Checks

Skin cancer checks involve a thorough examination of the skin by a specialist healthcare professional. During the check, the provider inspects the entire body for unusual moles, growths, or changes in the skin. A dermatoscope may be used for closer visualization. Patients are encouraged to discuss any concerns or changes in their skin to support accurate assessment and monitoring.

What you need to know:

  • The specialist skin GP will discuss your medical history, skin concerns, and any changes in moles or skin texture.

  • The GP will examine your skin from head to toe, including areas often overlooked.

  • A specialized tool may be used to closely examine moles and skin lesions.

  • Evaluation of size, shape, colour, and symmetry of moles to identify any characteristics that may need further assessment.

  • Patients may be asked to point out areas of concern.

  • Recommendations for general skin care and sun protection may be provided.

  • Discussion of any necessary follow-up appointments or procedures based on findings.

  • If suspicious lesions are identified, a biopsy may be recommended for further analysis.
